Reclaimed Fir Art Desk

This particular piece is a great mix of the old world meeting the new. We carefully select wood(typically Fir) that has been reclaimed from an antique building or barn and has the perfect amount of personality, or in this case, blemishes. We begin by pulling all the nails, and cleaning up the blemishes and imperfections. We then plane the top and sides smooth and join the slabs together using dowels and bow ties. Then, we introduce the artistic element of contrasting and colorful epoxy to fill in the knots, nail holes and imperfections.

The natural grain and details of the wood is then highlighted through the finishing process where we apply high quality resins to bring out the wood’s natural luster. The ensemble is finally mounted on two sturdy, triangle tube steel bases which adds a contemporary touch to this beautiful desk. The result is a stunning piece that inspires creative expression, tempered with the practical structure of a well crafted piece.
